Underwater Darts Tournament Rules

The object of the game is to get the highest point total from throwing a Toypedo through the target. The target has openings with varying point totals depending on the size and position of the board. Contestants in scuba gear throw side-by-side in head-to-head competition during the round robin tournament. There are specific rules and points for special types of throws and scores.

1. Players will get four (4) practice throws prior to tournament start. The “Qualifying Round” consists of eight (8) throws per player. The total score will determine the players “seed” or placement on the tournament brackets, as preliminary rounds may have byes.

2. The highest total score wins the round. Each player will get four (4) throws per round.

3. The contestant with the highest total will win that round.

4. This is a single elimination tournament, one loss and you are out of the tournament.

5. The point totals on the target are 5, 10, 20, and 40 for hitting the bulls-eye.

6. Contestants may double their sore by breaching the surface with a dart, which then hits the target.

7. Each contestant may triple their score by throwing from the shallow end, which is approximately 30 feet from the board.

8. All ties will be settled with a sudden death toss, if tied on the first throw, continue until one contestant has a higher score.

9. A dart must pass completely through the target to count as a score.

10. When a contestant throws a dart and it scores on the opponent’s board, their opponent gets the points.

11. If the dart goes through the board (score A) and comes back through the target (score B), the contestant gets the total of both scores.

12. A contestant may not lean over the line when throwing a dart; feet/fin tips may not cross the throw line.

13. All walls are out of bounds.

14. The scorekeeping judges’ calls are final.
