Underwater
Pumpkin Carving
October 28th 2006
For those of you that
missed it, the Pumpkin Carve was a lot of fun! We had a perfect fall
afternoon for the event, held at Mermet Springs Oct. 28 with Darren
Stross, Terry Flynn, and Steve Olfe from TGADC running the event. We
had about 20 or so people participate, some just for fun and some
were working on earning the prestigious PADI Underwater Pumpkin
Carver C-card. Some of us were quite experienced at underwater
pumpkin carving (Franken-Rusty) and were all decked out with a
variety of pumpkin carving accessories, others just winged it. We
had a lot of great pumpkins, traditional jack 'o lanterns, scary
pumpkins, creative ones, even one that had a scuba flag as part of
it.
For those that had the munchies, hot dogs, chili, and chips were
served in-between dives. Divers that wanted dessert had the option
of going on an underwater trick 'or treat. Upside down plastic
buckets with ziplocked candy inside them were laid out among the
various underwater stops.
At the end of the day the fish were well fed with the pumpkin guts
and everyone seemed to have a great time. Congratulations to those
of you who earned the C-card and thank you to all who came out for
the event. We look forward to seeing you again next year!
